Report from the 7th Endo COMBO 2019 course<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 7th Endo COMBO\u00a0course, endorsed by ESE,\u00a0was held on the\u00a04 – 6 October 2019 near Athens in Anavyssos, Greece. This international course, featuring live workshops, attracted participants from Europe and beyond. The theme was ‘Diabetes and Endocrine-related Cancer: Novel Mechanisms and Novel Therapies’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Evanthia Diamanti-Kandarakis,\u00a0director of the endocrinology and diabetes departments\u00a0at the Hygeia and Mitera Hospitals in Athens, with\u00a0co-organizers, Prof Vera Popovic, Prof Mi\u0161a Pfeifer and Dr Eleni Kandaraki, organised the course featuring\u00a0experts from the relevant scientific fields of endocrine disorders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 35 speakers and tutors from around the world shared their experience in the demanding and rapidly evolving field of endocrine oncology. Management of patients with endocrine tumours has become more demanding in everyday clinical practice, which has led to rapid progress. In addition to lectures, interactive workshops allowed\u00a0students to engage with experts. Case presentations and discussions focused on the critical topics of endocrine malignancies, as well as on the endocrine consequences\u00a0of oncological therapies on metabolic, pituitary, thyroid, adrenal, bone and reproductive functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants were fully engaged with plenty of educational and practical\u00a0discussion. Thanks are due to all organisers and participants for making this such a great event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Save the date for the 8th Endo COMBO course on\u00a02 – 4 of October 2020, in Anavyssos, Athens, Greece. It will focus on ‘Reproductive Endocrinology: Challenges and Controversies’ and will be dedicated to the memories of Renato Pasqualli and Dimitris Panidis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
